Following up on a rumor that we posted earlier this week…
Southern Utah University head basketball coach Todd Simon has announced the addition of Patrice Days to the Thunderbird coaching staff.
“We are very excited to have coach Days join the staff,” Simon said. “His passion, enthusiasm and work ethic will be tremendous assets to our program. He is the type of leader and role model we want for our young men at Southern Utah.”
Days most recently was an assistant at Wright State, where he had a hand in several aspects of the program, including player development, daily practice routines, scouting, and recruiting. He was also an academic coach for student-athletes. Before joining the staff at Wright State, he was an assistant coach at Abilene Christian.
“I’m beyond excited about working with coach Simon and the staff here at Southern Utah,” Days said. “I’m looking forward to learning from him and the guys on staff.”
Before his tenure at Abilene Christian, Days was was an assistant at Arlington Country Day School in Jacksonville, where the team finished with a 30-4 record in 2012-13. Days also spent time at Mack Prep as an assistant coach, UNC Charlotte as a graduate assistant, and New Orleans, where he was head student manager.
“It is rare that you can get a great group of guys like this together on a staff,” Days said about the staff as a whole. “Guys who have won, that are versatile and men of character. It’s an exciting time to be a part of the program as it evolves.”
As a player, after graduating from Piney Woods High School in Mississippi, he went to Southern (LA) University before playing a season at Caldwell (NC) Community College.
Days graduated from New Orleans with a degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2010, with a minor in both business and education.
