OFFICIAL: Jason Sautter Named Head Basketball Coach at Seward County CC

Thanks to great sources who got HoopDirt.com out in front of this one earlier this morning (JUCO DIRT)…

A familiar face to Saints fans will return to the bench in 2017-2018 as former Seward assistant Jason Sautter will lead the Men’s Basketball program next season as its Head Coach.

Sautter spent two seasons with the Saints in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013, helping lead Seward to a Jayhawk West Conference Championship in both seasons.  Sautter helped Seward to 56 wins in his two seasons in Liberal including a 31 win campaign in his first year.  The Saints captured the Jayhawk West crown and won the Region VI Championship in 2011-2012 with Sautter on the bench.  Sautter watched as Seward went on to finish 3rd at the NJCAA National Tournament and sophomore Deverell Biggs was named Jayhawk West MVP and a 1st Team NJCAA All-American.  In his second season with the Saints, Seward went 14-2 in Jayhawk West play to capture another title behind All-American guard Kaheem Ransom.

Sautter left Seward for a job at the NCAA Division I level at the University of Missouri-Kansas City as an assistant.  He spent two years there helping rebuild the Kangaroo program, including their highest seed at the WAC tournament in 10 seasons as well as seeing their first player in program history reach AP All-American status.

Since his stint at UMKC, Sautter has owned and operated Sautter Enterprises, leading prospective college athletes through the recruiting process with academic help as well as with on court trainings.  Sautter also recently completed his first season as assistant coach with the Rochester Razorsharks of the Premier Basketball League in New York, helping the ‘Sharks to a 16-2 regular season record and a PBL Championship.

On returning to Liberal Sautter said “I am extremely excited about the opportunity to serve as the next head basketball coach at Seward County Community College. I am honored by the confidence that both President Trzaska and the committee have demonstrated as we went through this process. Their commitment and vision for men’s basketball at Seward County are inspiring and I look forward to working with them to build champions and prepare leaders with the young men we have in our program. We are going to strive daily for excellence in every aspect of our program, do things the right way, and establish a winning culture that values relationships throughout. Our family looks forward to rejoining the Liberal community and I can’t wait to get started for our team.”

Seward Assistant Athletic Director Roy Allen said of Sautter’s hiring “We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to have Jason back on campus here at Seward County.  He is a tireless worker that demands perfection with his players in all aspects of his program.  I have no doubt that he will not only build our program back into one that is winning on the floor in the Greenhouse, but also one that is active on campus, in the classroom, and in our community, giving back to the great fans that give so much to us.”
