Following up on earlier reports of a change at St. John’s. Here’s the official release from the school:

St. John’s Director of Athletics Mike Cragg announced Friday that the University has begun a national search for a new head coach to lead its men’s basketball program.

“After fully evaluating the men’s basketball program, our University has decided a change is needed in both the leadership and direction of St. John’s Basketball,” said Cragg. “We wish Coach Mike Anderson and his family the best in their future.”

Anderson, the 21st head coach in the history of the St. John’s men’s basketball program, guided the Red Storm to a 68-56 overall record during his four seasons in Queens.

Red Storm associate head coach Van Macon will lead the program for the interim until a new head coach is identified.
