Following up on something that I first mentioned yesterday (D2 DIRT)…Ben Thompson has officially been named as the head men’s basketball coach at D2 Anderson University (SC). Still no release on AU’s site, but they posted the following on social media earlier today:
Thompson served as the head coach at Emory and Henry from 2019-24, overseeing their transition from NCAA D3 to NCAA D2. Prior to his time with the Wasps, Thompson spent three seasons as the head coach at D3 SUNY Canton.
Thompson, a coaching veteran has spent time at the D1 level at Virginia Tech (his alma mater), VMI, and UNC Greensboro and has served as an assistant at D2βs Lincoln Memorial and UNC Pembroke.
