The University of Redlands recently welcomed Tim Bross to the Bulldog family as the first, full-time Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach under Head Coach Jim Ducey.

Bross embarks upon this new venture with a unique familiarity of Currier Gym, Redlands men’s basketball, and the University in general, as a member of a Bulldog legacy family. His wife Crista is the daughter of Martha ’82 and Ted ’81 Mendoza and the granddaughter of longtime and esteemed coach Lee Fulmer ’51. In addition, Crista’s uncles, Mike Fulmer ’77 and Jim Fulmer ’72, add to Bross’ special ties to the U of R.

“Coaching at the University of Redlands is a dream come true for me and my family. I am thrilled to continue on this journey in my wife’s hometown at the university that her parents represented as student-athletes, and as an assistant with the program that her late grandfather, Lee Fulmer, once led,” Bross commented. “I am hungry and eager to learn from Coach Ducey and serve our players to the best of my ability.”

Bross made the move across the Pacific Ocean to Redlands after serving as the Assistant Coach at Chaminade University in Honolulu, HI, for the last two years. He contributed to Chaminade’s first postseason win in three years and directly oversaw the recruiting efforts of the 2017-18 class, which produced two all-conference selections.

In addition, Bross gained solid experience at Hawaii Pacific University and the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 2012 through 2016. During his two-year stretch as the Graduate Assistant at HPU, he was part of the Sharks’ first winning season in five years, which included the program’s inaugural NCAA Division II postseason victory. With UH-Manoa, he served as the team’s Administrative Assistant before stepping in as the interim Director of Basketball Operations. He managed the recruiting process and coordinated all community outreach, including the first alumni game. After returning to Hawaii Pacific in 2015, Bross helped guide the team to its best finish in six years while overseeing the skill development of perimeter players.

“We’re excited to have Tim join our program. He has done a good job of climbing the coaching ladder over the last six years or so. He has gained great experience with different teams, including recruiting and developing scouting reports,” stated Ducey.

Hailing from Vancouver, WA, Bross originally became a Bulldog at Gonzaga University (WA), where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Political Science. He later attained his Master of Education from Hawaii Pacific.

Bross is among multiple new hires for Bulldog Athletics, as the department continues to make the transition from graduate assistants to full-time assistants.
