OFFICIAL: Tinsley stepping down as Northeastern State head basketball coach

Thanks to a great source who had HoopDirt.com out in front of this one earlier today (DII DIRT). It has now been made official, Jason Tinsley has stepped down as the head basketball coach at Northeastern State (OK). NSU released the following statement:

Northeastern State University head men’s basketball coach Jason Tinsley announced on Friday to Director of Athletics Tony Duckworth that he will not return following the completion of his current contract which concludes on April 30, 2017.

A national search for NSU’s next head men’s basketball coach will begin in the coming days.

Interested applicants must apply on the jobs site at nsuok.edu once the position is posted.

Updates on the search can be tracked by following @NSUCoachSearch on Twitter.

The Riverhawks went 5-23 this past season, and in his three seasons, Tinsley compiled a 20-61 record. Before becoming the head coach at NSU, Tinsley was the women’s coach at Louisiana College where he went 89-25 with three berths in the NCAA Division III tournament. He has also been the men’s coach at UNC-Pembroke and Bossier Parish CC.
