O’Keefe Hired as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Albright

Albright head men’s basketball coach Rick Ferry announced Monday the hiring of Matt O’Keefe as an assistant coach. O’Keefe comes to Albright after spending time coaching at the AAU and high school level in New Jersey.

“We are excited to welcome Matt into the Albright Basketball family,” Ferry said. “He has a great background and knowledge of the Philadelphia and South Jersey basketball area.  His experience coaching at the AAU level, and at a great high school program in Paul VI will serve us well.”

O’Keefe has spent the last seven years serving as a coach for the South Jersey Jazz basketball team that is an AAU affiliate team. This year, O’Keefe was the head coach of the Jazz’s 9th grade 15u team. In addition to being a coach, O’Keefe was a member of the South Jersey Jazz board of directors as well. O’Keefe has also served on the coaching staff at Paul VI High School in Haddonfield, New Jersey for the past two years. He was the head coach of the freshman team and was an assistant coach for the varsity team that finished ranked in the top 10 in the entire State of New Jersey for high school basketball, and top five among South Jersey schools.

O’Keefe played all four years in college at the Division III level as he started his career at Rutgers-Camden before transferring to Neumann for his final two years. He was a member of the 2016-17 Neumann team that won the CASC title, and competed in the NCAA Tournament.

“I am excited to join the program and the Albright community” O’Keefe said. “I am looking forward to working with Coach Ferry, the staff, and the players”

Albright is coming off its third-straight MAC Commonwealth Tournament appearance in the 2018-19 season.
