After seven years of overseeing the Blue Mountain College Men’s Basketball team, J.D. Parker has stepped down from his position. Parker will return to his native Arkansas where he will take over as the head basketball coach at Wynne High School.

Parker leaves as the winningest coach in BMC basketball history, chalking up 65 total wins. During the 2016-2017 campaign, his Toppers won 13 games with wins over NCAA Division I teams Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Jackson State and an appearance in the SSAC Tournament. Under his guidance, BMC saw the number of victories increase each year, except during the 2015-2016 season, where injuries mounted for his team.

“It was not an easy decision to move away from BMC and what we have built over the past seven years,” Parker said. “It has been a joy to serve at a like-minded institution that places Christ over all and in all that we do. I pray God continues to bless the college as the GROW BMC campaign continues. I am thankful for the support that was given to our program from the faculty, staff, administration and several families and coaches in the surrounding communities. I am thankful for all Coach Bingham (Jermael), the players and the players’ families did for making a commitment to invest all of the time and hard work into the men’s basketball program.”

BMC will name Parker’s successor tomorrow in a press conference on campus at 1 p.m.
