Coe College men’s basketball Head Coach Bryan Martin has recently announced the addition of assistant coach Paxton Molinari to the Kohawk coaching staff.
“We are very excited to welcome Paxton, and his wife Hanna, into the Coe College community and the Kohawk basketball family. I believe Coach Molinari is the perfect fit for our program. He comes in with a great understanding of what it takes to be successful in the Iowa Conference and is truly a rising star in the coaching profession.”
Molinari comes to Coe after spending the 2014-15 season as a graduate assistant coach at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. The Ravens went 24-9 on the year and qualified for the NAIA Division I National Tournament in Kansas City. Prior to his time at Benedictine, Molinari spent the 2013-14 season as the top assistant at Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Prairie Wolves had four All-GPAC selections and also led the nation in assists-to-turnovers ratio.
“I can’t begin to express how excited I am to be a Kohawk,” said Molinari. “To be back in the Iowa Conference at an institution as prestigious as Coe College is a very special opportunity. I look forward to contributing to the winning tradition Coach Martin has already established in the men’s basketball program.”
Molinari is a 2013 graduate of Luther College. During his time in Decorah, he spent three years as a student-assistant under Mark Franzen after his playing career was cut short due to injury. The Norse won two Iowa Conference regular season championships during his time. Molinari also spent time assisting the USA Basketball Junior National Team, where he was on the support staff for coaches Billy Donovan, Shaka Smart and Frank Martin.
