Men’s basketball Head Coach Greg Mason has announced the addition of Josh Pittman to his staff for the upcoming season.
Pittman takes over as assistant coach, bringing a wealth of coaching experience at various levels. Most recently, he spent a couple of seasons with Division II Trevecca Nazarene in Tennessee.
He also had stints at Indiana University Southeast and Grand View University. While at IUSE, Pittman helped lead the program to a 48-16 record in his tenure there, including a conference championship. As an assistant at Grand View, Pittman helped lead the Vikings to the regular season conference championship with a 25-9 record, a 12-win improvement from the previous season.
In addition, Pittman spent two years working as a student assistant for Rick Pitino at the University of Louisville. Marvin Menzies, then an assistant coach on the Cardinals staff, asked Pittman to join him when he was named the head coach at New Mexico State. There he Pittman served as the Aggies’ program assistant.
“We are very pleased to add a coach the caliber of Josh Pittman to our coaching staff,” Mason noted. “He’s known in the coaching community as having a strong work ethic, plus he’s already been a successful recruiter at the college level. We’re excited for what Josh will bring to our Centre basketball program.”
Pittman added: “I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to work at Centre College and for Coach Mason. I have always had a great amount of respect for Coach Mason and the program he runs.”
The Colonels will open the 2018-19 season Nov. 13 on the road at Covenant. Centre’s home opener is Nov. 19 against in-state rival Transylvania.
