Here’s an update to a story that we’ve been tracking all week.
Following his arrest for driving under the influence last Sunday night, Radford head men’s basketball coach Darris Nichols has now plead guilty to the DUI charge.
According to WDBJ7, Nichols will “have his license suspended for 12 months and have to pay a $2,500 fine. He will have to use an ignition interlock device on his vehicle. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with all but two of them suspended.”
Also, A police report obtained by WDBJ7 indicated Nichols initially refused to do field sobriety tests and blew a blood alcohol level of .25 after being arrested (three times the legal limit of .08).
As we mentioned yesterday, Nichols older brother Shane has been tabbed as the acting head coach at Radford. There has been no further comment by the university.
