REPORT: Austin Peay hones in on South Carolina’s Matt Figger

According to multiple reports, South Carolina Associate Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Matt Figger in the choice to replace Dave Loos as the head coach at Austin Peay. Figger has been at South Carolina for the past five seasons, and had also spent five seasons working for Frank Martin at Kansas State. Before hooking up with Martin in 2007, he had served as an assistant under John Pelphrey at South Alabama for five seasons (2003-2007). Before becoming a DI assistant, Figger spent 10 years as an assistant coach in the junior college ranks, including stints at Wabash Valley (Ill.) (1993-94), Vincennes (1994-99) and Odessa (Texas) College (2000-02). It sounds like negotiations are underway, and if this gets done it could be announced shortly.
