According to a report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Miami associate head coach Chris Caputo is finalizing a deal to become the next head coach at George Washington. Caputo was listed as a confirmed finalist by HoopDirt.com last Sunday (GW Search Update).
Caputo has been with Jim Larranaga for the past 20-seasons – the past eleven at Miami, and the nine before that at George Mason. He was an assistant on George Mason’s 2006 Final Four team.
Caputo would replace Jamion Christian, who was dismissed earlier this spring after three seasons on the job.
The other finalists were former Louisville interim head coach Mike Pegues, Virginia associate head coach Jason Williford, and a current MM head coach.
More on this when it becomes official.
