According to a report by KOAM, Pittsburg State (KS) assistant coach Jon Gillam has been placed on administrative leave. He reportedly directed a racial slur towards the Central Missouri basketball staff during a game on January 12th.
Interestingly enough, Gillam played collegiately at Central Missouri where he won a DII National Championship as a senior in 2014. He has been on Kim Anderson’s staff for the past two seasons, and served as an administrative staffer for Anderson at Missouri for three seasons.
Pittsburg State issued the following statement:
“Pittsburg State University is aware of the allegation that on January 12, during a game between Pittsburg State and the University of Central Missouri at John Lance Arena, a racial slur was directed toward a member of the University of Central Missouri’s coaching staff. The university takes these matters seriously and is conducting an internal investigation. Pittsburg State University condemns any behavior that creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work or educational environment.”
