According to a report from KREM 2, Eastern Washington will name associate head coach David Riley as their new head men’s basketball coach. He will replace Shantay Legans, who departed to become the head coach at Portland earlier this week.
Riley has been at Eastern Washington for the past 11 seasons. He started in an administrative role in 2011 under former head coach Jim Hayford, who he played for while at D3 Whitworth. Riley then became an assistant in 2014, and was elevated to associate head coach in 2020.
Over the past four years under Legans, Riley was part of a staff that went 75-49 (.605), and captured the Big Sky Championship this season.
More on this one when it becomes official.
