The worst kept secret in college basketball is finally a reality. According to multiple reports, including one from Jon Rothstein, Ed Cooley will depart Providence and become the new head coach at Georgetown.
Cooley has spent the past 12-seasons at the helm of his hometown Friars, where he went 242-153 (.613). His best season came in 2021-22, when he went 27-6. Before being hired at PC, Cooley spent five seasons as the head coach at Farified. He owns a 334-222 (.601) career record.
Cooley will replace former Hoya and NBA star Patrick Ewing, who was dismissed earlier this month after six seasons on the job.
More on this move once it becomes official.
