According to multiple reports, including one from Jon Rothstein, Billy Gillispie will not return as the head basketball coach at Tarleton State. Gillispie has not been coaching the team since early February, when Glynn Cyprien was named as the acting head coach. He was also suspended briefly in October following an investigation after an anonymous conduct complaint.
Gillispie, the former head coach at Kentucky, Texas A&M, UTEP and Texas Tech (217-187 – .537) – he also spent five seasons as the head coach at NJCAA D1 Ranger College before taking over at TSU.
Tarleton is currently 14-13 (5-9 WAC) and riding a two-game win streak. They currently have four regular season games remaining.
