REPORT: Kim English out at Providence at end of season

According to a report from long-time, well respected Providence reporter Kevin McNamara, Kim English will not be retained at the conclusion of the Friars season.

McNamara’s report states that “English has multiple years remaining on his contract with PC but the two sides will agree on a buyout of the deal. A search for English’s replacement will begin in earnest at the end of this season.”

English, who replaced Ed Cooley as the head coach at Providence three years ago, has gone 47-50 (.485) during his tenure.

The Friars are currently 14-16 (7-12 Big East) with their final regular season game set to take place at Georgetown on Sunday.

Prior to his time at Providence, English had spent two seasons as the head coach at George Mason (34-29). He has also served as an assistant at Tulsa, Colorado, and Tennessee (where he worked for former PC head coach Rick Barnes).

More on this one once Providence makes it official.
