Earlier this week in the DAILY DIRT, I mentioned Fran McCaffery’s involvement at Penn. Now, according to multiple reports, including one from Sam Federman, a deal to hire McCaffery is “imminent.”
A Penn alum, McCaffery takes over just weeks after being dismissed from Iowa, where he coached for 15 seasons and became the program’s all-time winningest coach with a 297–207 record and seven NCAA tournament appearances. His tenure ended amid a four-year downturn, with Iowa missing the tournament the last two seasons. McCaffery replaces Steve Donahue, who was fired after a 8–19 season in his ninth year with Penn.
More on this once it becomes official.
