According to a report by NJ Advance Media, Rutgers head basketball coach Steve Pikiell has signed a long-term extension to remain as Rutgers men’s basketball coach. The contract is expected to be approved at 4 p.m. Wednesday at a specially called meeting of the university’s Board of Governors. Details of the extension are not known at this time. Pikiell’s original deal was for 5-years with an average salary of $1.6 million.
Rutgers is currently 11-6 overall and 1-3 in the Big Ten heading into tonight’s contest at #4 Michigan State. Pikiell received the HoopDirt.com Coach of the Week Award presented by Just Play Solutions back on December 18th after knocking off 15th ranked Seton Hall.
