Tom Ostrom has been hired by St. John’s University as a consultant and interim general manager for the men’s basketball program, according to a report from the New York Post.

Ostrom will help guide the program through the current recruiting period following the mid-January dismissal of former general manager Matt Abdelmassih after an investigation into financial deals he made.

A longtime Division I assistant, Ostrom has previously coached at West Virginia University, Indiana University, University of Dayton, University of Arkansas, and University of Florida. Pitino said Ostrom is already assisting with transfer portal preparation and could remain in the role long term if he decides he wants the position full time.
