According to multiple reports, including one from Rick Broering, Xavier has parted ways with head coach Travis Steele.
Steele, whose Musketeers are still alive in the NIT, had spent the past four seasons at Xavier. During his tenure, he has compiled a 70-50 (.583) record. His team is currently 19-13 (8-11) after beating Cleveland State last night 72-68. The Musketeers did not make any NCAA tournament appearances during Steele’s time there.
Prior to being named as the head coach at Xavier, he spent nine seasons on the staff there as an assistant. He has also worked at Indiana as an assistant and Ohio State as a GA.
Associate head coach Jonas Hayes will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of Xavier’s time in the NIT.
