Richey named DBO at Holy Cross

The College of the Holy Cross has named Colin Richey its new director of men’s basketball operations, as announced by head coach Dave Paulsen. Richey’s primary responsibilities will include heavy involvement in recruiting efforts, summer camps and day-to-day office duties, in addition to serving as the team’s travel and video coordinator.

“I’m excited to welcome Colin to the Holy Cross basketball family” said Paulsen. “Colin has distinguished himself as a rising star in the profession. He has had the opportunity to learn from two of the finest coaches in the region in Scott Faucher and Brandon Linton.  Colin has a unique ability to blend a keen basketball mind with a cutting edge skill set which will be invaluable as we strive to rebuild our program.”

Richey joins the Crusaders after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Tufts University. During the 2022-2023 campaign, he helped lead the Jumbos to an overall record of 20-8 and a trip to the NCAA Tournament, where they advanced to the second round. Tufts previously went 13-10 in 2021-2022, while placing second in the New England Small College Athletic Conference with an 8-2 mark in league play.

Prior to joining the Jumbos, Richey was an assistant coach at Assumption College from 2019-2021. During the 2019-2020 season, he helped the Greyhounds to a mark of 14-12, good for their best overall record in five years.

Richey was previously an assistant at Nichols College in 2018-2019, when the Bison advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, won the Commonwealth Coast Conference championship and finished with a 28-3 record.

A 2018 graduate of St. Michael’s College, Richey was a four-year member of the men’s basketball squad. As a senior, he received the program’s Jerry Lanteri Award for exemplary contributions to the team.
