The Moberly Area Community College Men’s Basketball Team has announced the hiring of Rusty Elmore as Assistant Coach. Elmore is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and received his Masters Degree from Western Kentucky University. He has compiled an impressive record as an Assistant Coach at the collegiate level starting with Lindsey Wilson College where he served from 2011-14. During his last two seasons there, they made two NAIA National Tournament appearances and set a school record with 31 victories and a final four National Tournament berth.
He then went to Union College in Kentucky where they set a school record with a 31-5 record and NAIA Division II National Tournament finish. During the 2015-16 season, he served as Asst. Coach to Happy Osborne at Kentucky Wesleyan College where they compiled a 28-3 mark and NCAA Regional Tournament berth.
This past season, Elmore was Assistant Coach at Vincennes University where they finished 31-5 with a final 8 NJCAA National Tournament finish. During his playing career at Northwest Shoals Jr. College, he played for his father and helped his squad reach the NJCAA National Tournament Appearance.
“I’ve known of Rusty for some time and have always heard great things about him,” said MACC Coach Patrick Smith, “After getting to know him the past few months, I became convinced that he was the coach we needed to compliment Coach Bell and make our program the best it can be. He’s a proven recruiter and coach, and he’s already hit the ground running and contributing positively to our team for this upcoming season. Above all else, he’s a quality individual who will fit in great with our college and community.”
Rusty and his wife, Katie, are the parents of a three year daughter, Elise.
