This morning, the Rutgers Board of Governors voted unanimously to support the hiring of Steve Pikiell as the university’s new head basketball coach. According to NJ.com, some of the details are as follows:
Pikiell received a five-year contract starting at $1.4 million and increasing by $100,000 each year.
The contract, which includes performance incentives contingent on academic and team success, is worth $8 million guaranteed for Pikiell, who earned approximately $500,000 in his final season at Stony Brook, according to former Athletics Director Jim Fiore.
The contract also guarantees the Rutgers assistant coaches a pool of $800,000, which is a $220,000 increase from Jordan’s tenure.
The official introductory press conference is expected as early as today.
