Salisbury releases statement on Andrew Sachs’ future with the program

In an agreement with Salisbury University, Andrew Sachs has stated he will not return as the men’s basketball coach.

An SU alumnus, Sachs has served as the head coach for three years. His inaugural season ended with a 21-7 record, marking the most wins for a first-year head coach in program history. During his tenure his players excelled in the classroom and on the court, with SU having 15 men’s basketball players named to the CAC’s All-Academic Team over the three years and achieving an overall record of 59-26. The team received a national ranking for all three seasons, with two NCAA Tournament appearances.

“We thank Coach Sachs for all of his contributions to the men’s basketball program,” said Dr. Gerry DiBartolo, Salisbury University Director of Athletics and Recreation, “and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Interim Head Coach Brian McDermott will guide the team through the 2018-2019 season and a national search will be conducted after the season. The Sea Gulls will begin 2018-19 with a game against Arcadia University on Saturday, November 10, at Maggs Physical Activities Center. Starting time is set for 7:30 p.m.
