Seikel Named Assistant Basketball Coach at St. John Fisher College

Head coach Mike Grosodonia II of the St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team has announced the hiring of Dylan Seikel as an assistant coach with the program as the Cardinals are set to embark upon the 2018-19 season.

Seikel brings a plethora of coaching experience to Fisher’s sidelines after most recently serving as an assistant with Case Western Reserve last season.

“We are very excited to welcome Dylan to St. John Fisher College,” stated Grosodonia who took over the program prior to last season after a successful stint at the Aquinas Institute where he guided the Lil’ Irish to a New York State Championship.  “He brings a lot of energy and a great work ethic to go along with his basketball knowledge.”

Seikel, who was a student-athlete at Wabash College before transferring to Division I Akron University, worked in the high school ranks as an assistant coach for Revere High School for two years where he helped teach basketball fundamentals and aided in the development of numerous collegiate athletes including a Division I player.

Seikel, who graduated from Akron with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, also brings a wealth of experience coaching at the AAU level where he was the president and co-founder of the Akron Bobcats.

“Dylan’s familiarity with the high school and AAU landscapes and his past experiences as a student-athlete will really help us in our recruiting efforts as we strive for another Empire 8 Championship this season and beyond,” continued Grosodonia.

Men’s basketball is coming off a season in which it posted a 15-10 overall record including 10 wins in Empire 8 play.  The Cardinals are set to tip off the 2018-19 campaign on November 16th when they travel to Virginia Beach, Va. to take part in the Virginia Wesleyan Tip-Off Tournament against Messiah College.
