Semling out at D3 Wisconsin-Stevens Point

The UW-Stevens Point Athletics department will be making a change in the leadership of its men’s basketball program. The change will be the first for the program since Hall of Fame coach Jack Bennett retired in 2005.

The Pointers had been a perennial power in the WIAC and the nation, including a national championship in 2015. Success hasn’t been prevalent in recent years, as UWSP missed the WIAC Tournament this season for the first time in the history of the WIAC Championship.

While at the helm, Coach Bob Semling won two national championships, six WIAC regular season titles and six WIAC Tournament championships. UWSP thanks him for his service.

The change in leadership seeks a return to the Pointers long-term success. A nationwide search for the program’s next leader will commence shortly.

Semling wraps-up his tenure with a 332-139 (.705) overall record at Stevens Point. His complete career record is below.
