Trinity Baptist College Athletic Director, John D. Jones, announced that Zach Shank has been hired as the new head coach for the Eagles men’s basketball program. Shank was introduced to the team earlier this week and will assume his duties immediately.
“After accepting the resignation of our previous coach on April 17, the administration decided to move quickly to name Zach as our next head coach,” stated Jones. “He fits our profile perfectly, especially his strong desire to use the platform of basketball to disciple young men. Zach is a proven leader who excelled as a player in our program. He cares about TBC, and he reflects our mission perfectly. We cannot wait to welcome Zach and his wife, Emily, back to campus to get started building the next chapter of Eagles Men’s Basketball.”
Shank returns to Trinity, where he assisted Coach Jones for four seasons after graduating in 2012.
“I am extremely excited to be back in Jacksonville and back at my alma mater,” said Shank. “I am honored to be selected as the next head coach and to help bring TBC back to the championship level of basketball that has been played here before. Thank you to President Mac Heavener and Athletic Director John D. Jones for trusting me with this opportunity. Coach Jones has been a key part of my success as an AD and a coach, and I am excited to be back under his leadership! I also want to thank Coach Pat Milligan for paving the way for TBC Athletics and investing in so many of us along the way! Go Eagles!”
Zachary Shank was born and raised in Jacksonville and attended Trinity Baptist College after high school. In 2012, he received a degree in secondary education and a minor in sports administration. While at Trinity, he played four years of basketball, where he was a four-time All-American under Coach Patrick Milligan. The team won two Bible College national titles during his playing career.
Upon graduation, he was hired as an assistant coach with the TBC men’s team from 2012-2016. In 2014, he was named athletic director at Cornerstone Christian School, where he had the privilege of starting and establishing the athletic program. In 2017, Zach and his wife Emily moved to Raleigh, NC where he was the athletic director and head coach of boys and girls basketball at Neuse Christian Academy.
In 2022, Coach Shank and his family moved back to the Jacksonville area, where he accepted the position of athletic director at Eagle’s View Academy. He is passionate about basketball and ensuring that TBC competes and wins with character and integrity.
Zach and Emily met at TBC in 2011, and they later married in 2015. The couple has one daughter named Lennon.
