Sload named Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Scranton

Chris Sload has joined The University of Scranton men’s basketball program as an Assistant Coach for the 2023-2024 campaign as announced by head coach Carl Danzig.

Sload brings a wealth of knowledge to the program with 30+ years of coaching experience and mostly recently served as the head coach at Penn State Scranton from 2013-23. During his tenure, the Lions qualified for the PSUAC Tournament in 2015, 2016 and 2022.

“We are excited to add Coach Sload to our program as he brings a wealth of experience and we are looking forward to using that to better our program in many ways,” Danzig said.

He also served as the head coach as Johnson College from 2011-2013 and as a head coach at the high school level for eight seasons between Mechanicsburg and Wyoming Valley West High Schools where he led two PIAA 4A State Tournament runs.

Sload’s coaching career began in 1997 at Dickinson College, where the associate head coach helped assist in all facets of the program and helped guide the Red Devils to a Centennial Conference Championship in his first season.

Along with assisting with the Royals, Sload also serves as an Assistant Principal at North Pocono High School.
