Adam Gordon joined the Southeast Missouri men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach Tuesday.
Gordon worked the last three years as director of operations on Rick Ray‘s staff at Mississippi State. He was in charge of travel, camps, scheduling, on-campus recruiting and academic compliance during his stint with the Bulldogs.
“Adam will be a valuable addition to our team,” said Ray. “It is important to have someone on any staff that knows the system and more importantly me, so that he can convey that knowledge to the players and the rest of the staff. Adam is so well connected in our business due to his innovative work with the Rising Coaches organization. He is excited to take the next step in his career by transitioning to being a recruiting assistant and on the floor coach. I am just as excited to provide that opportunity for him that he has earned through his hard work and dedication.”
Gordon, who hails from Los Angeles, California, also spent time at Northern Colorado and was a graduate assistant at Clemson for three years, working alongside Ray.
“I am so grateful to be part of Coach Ray’s vision for Southeast basketball,” said Gordon. “Coach Ray is an outstanding coach and an even better person. After working with him in an administrative role the last few years, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to get on the court. More importantly, I am excited to help impact the lives of our student-athletes.”
A 2006 graduate of Tampa who studied Youth Development and Leadership at Clemson, Gordon was an assistant coach at Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Florida, from 2006-08 before going to Clemson. There, Gordon was responsible for recruiting, player development, opponent scouting, video editing and exchange, and academic counseling. He helped lead the Patriots to a pair of NJCAA Florida State Tournament appearances.
Prior to Central Florida CC, Gordon was head manager and student assistant at the University of Tampa from 2002-06.
Additionally, Gordon was one of the founders of Rising Coaches Elite, an organization that assists young coaches, operations directors and managers with networking and clinics.
Gordon has a wife, Stephan, and a stepson, Bentley.
