St. Joe’s announces Basketball Staff promotions

Saint Joseph’s Head Coach Billy Lange has announced that Casey Woodford has been elevated to director of video and scouting operations and Matt Rebock ’23 has been named special assistant to the head coach.

“Part of our vision and growth has been to create a purposeful and dynamic graduate assistant and graduate manager program. We are providing opportunities for people to experience the spirit of the Hawk Hill community, further their education and obtain a reputable SJU degree, and begin to chase their dreams as leaders in the many roles that the basketball vocation can offer,” Lange said. “We are extremely grateful for our administration’s support of this initiative.”

Entering his fourth season as a member of Lange’s staff, Woodford will oversee all video operations and assist with opponent breakdowns. He will also support technological services and aid in recruiting efforts for the Hawks. A 2021 graduate of Penn State, Woodford joined Lange’s staff as a graduate manager in 2021 and earned a master’s degree in business intelligence and analytics from Saint Joseph’s in 2023. During the 2023-24 season, he served as video specialist for the Hawks, who finished with a 21-14 record and competed in the NIT.

“Video and graphic presentations have become a vital teaching tool to the modern-day basketball player as visual learning has become part of their upbringing. Casey has enhanced our player development, recruiting, and scouting efforts through his leadership, creativity, and expertise. His knowledge of our systems and philosophies has elevated him to accept greater responsibilities as it pertains to our development and scouting operations,” said Lange. “Our players and staff recognize his daily commitment to serving others and respect his efforts and talent. Casey is an iron sharpener.”

Elevated to the role of special assistant to the head coach, Rebock will serve as a liaison for Lange, contribute to the development and execution of the Hawks’ brand and digital content strategy, act as a primary contact with the athletic department’s external relations team, help coordinate recruiting efforts, and provide analytical oversight. A 2023 graduate of Saint Joseph’s with a bachelor’s degree in business intelligence and analytics, Rebock previously served as a graduate assistant during the 2023-24 season and as a student manager during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.

“Matt is a Hawk who has great passion for SJU, the Jesuit mission, and our program. He has so many talents and is terrific with people – he lives our virtues to Respect, Elevate, and Serve,” Lange said. “He will amplify the program through multiple responsibilities that will range from team development, to recruiting visits, to branding, to family relationships and more. His future in the business of basketball is bright.”
