Young Harris College men’s basketball coach Pete Herrmann has announced the addition of Steve Viterbo to the Mountain Lion coaching staff as an assistant coach.
“It will be a great homecoming for Steve,” said Herrmann. “I’m very happy to have him back as an assistant. His loyalty to Young Harris College and the men’s basketball program is unparalleled and terrific. He is loved by everyone on campus and in the community. I’m very glad to have him on staff.”
Viterbo is no stranger to the Mountain Lions as he helped restart the men’s basketball program at Young Harris in 2010.
Viterbo started every one of 91 games he played, which is the most in YHC history. The Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, native scored 1,067 points, grabbed 544 rebounds, and recorded 226 assists, 162 steals and 56 blocked shots in his career. He is currently tied for No. 1 on the all-time list with 123 three-pointers and is No. 2 in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocked shots. Viterbo also served as the president of the YHC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2013-14.
Viterbo earned his bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Young Harris in 2014.
