Sunday Dirt – 5/1/16

Catching-up on some things that I’ve heard over the past few days…

  • Montana associate head coach Ken Bone has resigned. The former Washington State head coach had been on Travis DeCurie’s staff for the past two years.  I have heard that Oregon State Director of Player Personnel Rachi Wortham is the leader to replace Bone. He has been at OSU since 2014, and was an assistant at Eastern Washington before that. I have also heard that current Montana assistant Chris Cobb will be elevated to the role of associate head coach.
  • Two names that I have heard involved with assistant spots on Richie Riley’s staff at Nicholls State are Clarendon College head coach Isaac Amedee (a Nicholls St. alum) and Tennessee Martin assistant coach John Aiken. I confirmed in an earlier blog that Clemson video coordinator Austin Claunch has already joined Riley’s staff.
  • Following-up on a story that I “tweeted” about yesterday…Towson assistant Bruce Shingler will become an assistant at South Carolina. He has been on the Towson staff for the past four seasons.  He had previously worked as an administrative assistant for South Carolina head coach Frank Martin when they were at Kansas State.
  • Jordan Fair will become a graduate assistant on Rick Pitino’s staff at Louisville. He has spent the past four seasons as the boy’s basketball coach at Oldsmar Christian (FL).
  • I am hearing that the search at DII Point Loma Nazarene (CA) is winding down. Some good names involved here including a very successful DII head coach from the Northwest. This one could be wrapped up shortly – more as I hear it.
  • Also, I’ve heard that DII Merrimack College (MA) is down to four candidates. 3/4 DI assistants in the final group.  More on this one soon as well….
