It has now been made official, Northeastern State University Director of Athletics and Chief Athletics Officer Tony Duckworth, announced that Mark Downey will be hired as the university’s head men’s basketball coach. HOT DII DIRT: IPFW assistant Mark Downey to be named Head Basketball Coach at Northeastern State
HoopDirt.com can confirm that IPFW assistant Mark Downey will become the next head basketball coach at DII Northeastern State (OK). The move will be made official once Downey clears the HR process, which is expected early next week. Before becoming an assistant at IPFW, Downey had a ton of success as a DII head coach.

I can confirm that Mark Downey will be named as an assistant at IPFW. Downey spent last season as an assistant at Bowling Green, and has also been the head coach at West Alabama, Charleston (WVa.), Arkansas Tech, and Independence CC. He will replace Ben Betts who became an assistant at Georgia Southern this past spring.
DII DIRT: St. Leo (FL) Finalists
The search to replace Lance Randall at St. Leo (FL) is moving along quickly. Randall was named as the head coach at Lindenwood University (MO) back on May 11th. It sounds like there are at least three in the final group – the names that I’ve heard are: Mark Downey – Former assistant Bowling Green.
