Today’s daily news and notes from round the college basketball coaching world… The Villanova men’s basketball program has paused all team activities due to COVID-19 positive test results impacting Tier 1 staff members. Head Coach Jay Wright has tested positive for the virus and is in isolation per CDC guidelines while experiencing mild symptoms.
Some things to kick off the week… I have heard from multiple sources that Austin Peay assistant coach Rick Cabrera will interview at Tennessee Tech today. Cabrera is a TTU alum who just wrapped up his second season at APSU. He served as an assistant at Tennessee Tech from 2012-17, and also worked at Chattanooga.

Southern Illinois head basketball coach Barry Hinson signed a contract extension this past September. There was no formal announcement made. According to an SIU spokesman contacted by HoopDirt.com, it is “university and departmental policy” not to put out statements on contract extensions. Long-time Division I assistant coach Tom Hankins has been tabbed to take over the head coaching reigns at Central Oklahoma, it was announced Thursday.
