James Madison men’s basketball has added Tanner Shulman to its 2025-26 coaching staff as a graduate assistant, Head Coach Preston Spradlin announced on Monday morning.
“I’m beyond excited and truly honored to join Coach Spradlin and the phenomenal staff at JMU,” Shulman said. “This is more than just a team — it’s a family built on a shared commitment to excellence. The success this staff has had is a direct reflection of the culture they’ve created, and I’m proud to now be a part of it. I can’t wait to contribute and grow with this incredible group of coaches and student-athletes.”
Shulman, joins the staff after wrapping up his collegiate playing career at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport management. He began his career at Lipscomb, where he spent three years. At JMU, he will pursue a master’s degree in cyber intelligence. Shulman’s father, John, is the head men’s basketball coach at Central Arkansas.
