I can confirm that Tarleton State head coach Billy Gillispie will add Zach Settembre to his staff as the lead assistant.
Last season was Settembre’s first at Coastal Carolina. He was part of a staff that led the Chanticleers to their highest win total since the 2016-17 season (19), and advanced to the championship game in The Basketball Classic post-season tournament.
Before coming to CCU, Stettembre spent two seasons as the head coach at Tallahassee CC, where he had a ton of success. During his tenure, he went 46-9 with back-to-back Panhandle Conference Championships. He was also named Panhandle Conference Coach of the Year in each of his two seasons at TCC.
Settembre will replace Tra Arnold on Gillispie’s staff. Arnold, who departed the staff earlier this spring, is reportedly the leader for the vacancy at Midland (TX) College.
Gillispie has one more spot left to fill on his staff, as he has to replace Kyle Cooper, who was named as the head coach at Howard College at the end of March. I believe I’ll have that name shortly as well.
An official announcement on the Settembre hire is expected shortly.
