Tennessee Men’s Basketball Assistants Receive Pay Increases

Late last week, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes inked a contract extension which included a salary increase. Now, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel, the assistant coaches have received raises as well, something that Barnes pushed for. According to the report, the three assistant coaches are now making the following:

Rob Lanier: $425,000 (was $390,113)

Desmond Oliver: $275,000 (was $225,000)

Michael Schwartz: $275,000 (was $231,750)

Last season, the Volunteers won the regular-season SEC Championship and advanced to the title game of the SEC Tournament. They entered the NCAA Tournament as #3 with a 26-9 record which was the fourth-most wins in program history. For his efforts (and the efforts of the staff), Barnes was named the 2018 SEC Coach of the Year and was runner-up for Naismith National Coach of the Year.
