Texas staff update

Chris Babcock has been promoted to Special Assistant and former Longhorn Connor Atchley has been named Graduate Manager, The University of Texas Basketball program announced Thursday. Babcock replaces Kenton Paulino, who left the Texas coaching staff last spring to take an assistant coaching position at Lamar University.

Babcock served as a graduate manager the last three seasons with Texas Basketball prior to his promotion. Before his arrival at Texas, he was an assistant men’s basketball coach at Minneapolis Community College during the 2007-08 season. Babcock also completed an internship with the NBA’s Toronto Raptors in the summer of 2007.

Atchley, a four-year letterwinner and two-year starter at Texas (2005-09), joins the UT staff after playing professionally in the United States and Turkey over the last three seasons. Atchley played for Darussafaka Istanbul in Turkey during the fall of 2009 before returning to the United States to play in the NBA Development League. In the D-League, he played for the Dakota Wizards (2009-10), the Iowa Energy (2010) and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (2011). Atchley also was invited to the Sacramento Kings’ preseason training camp in 2010.
