Two more Head Coaches set to miss games due to COVID

Following the news earlier this week that UConn’s Danny Hurley and Mizzou’s Cuonzo Martin had tested positive for COVID, two more NCAA D1 men’s basketball coaches have now been added to the list and will miss games.

Buffalo announced that head coach Jim Whitesell has entered into COVID protocols and he did not coach yesterday’s game vs Miami (OH). Assistant coach Angres Thorpe served as the acting coach. According to WIBV.com, Whitesell also missed games last year – he coached one game from the stands after his wife tested positive and had to watch others from a hotel. There is no information on when he will return to the sidelines.

Louisiana men’s basketball Bob Marlin has tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the Ragin’ Cajuns’ next two games, the school announced. Assistant coach Brock Morris will serve as acting head coach for both games. According to the Daily Advertiser, Marlin also tested positive and missed two games last season, both at Texas State. Morris coached UL in those two games, and the Cajuns won both.
