University of Central Arkansas Head Coach Russ Pennell, announced that Tyler Miller has been promoted to assistant coach after spending previous two seasons as the Director of Basketball Operations and spent the 2014-15 season as a graduate assistant. “Tyler has done a phenomenal job in his time here at Central Arkansas and has earned this opportunity,” said Pennell. “He has a very keen basketball mind and has a very bright future in our profession. He has built great relationships in the community and most importantly with our players. I trust him implicitly. He will do great in his new role.”
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be named an assistant coach at University Central Arkansas,” said Tyler Miller. “Being a part of Central Arkansas Basketball over the last three years, I have seen the improvement and progress first hand.
A native of Chandler, Arizona, Miller outstanding high school player at Chandler –Basha HS, where he was a four (4) time All Arizona Republic HM player, before going onto RMAC – Colorado Western State University as freshman in 2009-10. He finished his basketball career at University of Montana Western in Dillon, Montana, under Montana Hall of Fame coach Steve Keller. Miller, three-year starter, helped his team to 67 wins, one conference championship, and two National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournaments. Including Sweet Sixteen and Elite 8 appearances in 2012 and 2013.
In addition, Miller made the Frontier Conference Academic All-Conference Team three (3) times and made National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I Men’s basketball student-athletes Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes Award two (2) times. Acknowledged in 2012-13 “NAIA Champions with Character Award” for the University Montana Western Program at NAIA Division 1 National Tourney in Kansas City.
Miller graduated with honors in 2014 Magna Cum Laude graduate from University Montana Western. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration – Minor in Computer Information Technologies. Miller recently earned his master’s degree at University Central Arkansas in April 2017, with Masters in IT Instructional Technologies.
