Former UConn standout Kevin Freeman will return to the Huskies as an assistant coach on Dan Hurley’s staff. This was first reported earlier this morning by Rivals’ Corey Evans. He will replace Kenya Hunter who became an assistant at Indiana last month.
Freeman had been an assistant at Penn State for the past two seasons. Prior to that, he worked in an administrative role at UConn under both Jim Calhoun and Kevin Ollie.
Freeman had a standout career at UConn, finished his career sixth on the all-time rebounding list with 913 boards and 12th on the career scoring list with 1,476 points. He won an National Championship as a player in 1999, and was on the staff for the Huskies 2014 National Championship.
