UMBC’s Odom tabbed as America East Coach of the Year

UMBC Head coach Ryan Odom was named as the America East Coach of the Year today. Quick facts:

  • Chosen Coach of the Year for the first time.
  • Just the second UMBC head coach to earn the honor joining Randy Monroe (2007-08).
  • Helped the Retrievers earn a share of the America East regular-season title and the top seed in the America East tournament for just the second time in program history and the first time in 13 seasons.
  • Led UMBC to a league-best 14-5 overall record, including a 9-4 league mark.

In his five seasons at UMBC, Odom has amassed a 97-59 (.622) overall record. In 2018, Odom led the #16 Retrievers to the first-ever upset over a #1 in the NCAA tournament, when they knocked off Virginia 74-54.
