UNC Pembroke men’s basketball head coach Ben Miller announced a pair of changes to his coaching staff on Tuesday with the promotion of Tony Jones to a full-time assistant coach role and the promotion of Connor Keltner to assistant coach.

Jones will enter his sixth season with the Braves in 2019-20 after previously serving as both a graduate assistant coach (2014-17) and part-time assistant coach (2017-19) with the program. Keltner served previous stints with the Black & Gold as both a video & technology coordinator (2016-17) and director of basketball operations.

“Tony has worked his way up in our program, taking on more and more responsibility every year,” Miller said. “He has a tremendous loyalty, work ethic and passion for the game, and has been instrumental in helping build our program into a contender in both the Peach Belt Conference and the NCAA Southeast Region.

“Connor has also taken on more and more responsibility within our program, and that has made us better in many ways.  He possesses a unique passion for the game, along with an innovative mind that will continue to elevate our program.”

Jones served the Braves as a student assistant during the 2014-15 season and was charged with all organizational tasks for the program, including the maintenance of practice and game facilities, as well as managing equipment and team gear. He was promoted to graduate assistant coach for the 2015-16 campaign and his duties included coordinating practice plans and drills, while also managing graduate and student assistants. He also served an integral role in the recruiting efforts for the program as well. He was promoted to assistant coach prior to the 2017-18 campaign.

Keltner will dive into his sixth season with the Braves as well. During runs to PBC titles in both 2016-17 and 2017-18, he served as video and technology coordinator and was instrumental in the breakdown of film, while also serving as a bench coach during home and road games. He was promoted to director of basketball operations prior to last season and was tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the program, including the logistics of budget, game day management, coordination of managers’ duties, team travel arrangements and equipment coordination.
