University of Texas Board of Regents approves 6-yr, $32M contract for Sean Miller

The University of Texas Board of Regents has approved a six-year, $32 million guaranteed contract for new men’s basketball coach Sean Miller, signaling a major investment in reviving the program after a challenging first season in the SEC. Miller’s deal, which starts at $4.8 million in the 2025–26 season and increases by $200,000 annually, nearly doubles the salary of his predecessor Rodney Terry, who was let go in March despite having three years left on his contract.

In addition to his base salary, Miller will receive a $250,000 relocation bonus and will be eligible to earn up to $850,000 in annual incentives tied to team performance, conference titles, postseason success, and personal accolades. Texas hired Miller just days after his Xavier team eliminated the Longhorns in the NCAA Tournament’s First Four round.

Miller, 56, brings significant experience to Austin, having coached at Xavier in two different stints and leading the Arizona program for over a decade. He returned to Xavier in 2022 after being fired by Arizona and is now tasked with elevating Texas back to national relevance.
