Brian Vraney has resigned from his post after 12 seasons as the head coach of the Buccaneer men’s basketball program. Vraney’s last day at Beloit College will be Friday, April 12.

“I am very thankful for the opportunity to lead the Men’s Basketball program here at Beloit College over the past 12 years,” said Coach Vraney. “I had the chance to live my dream and coach some outstanding young men.”

Throughout his 12 years at the helm for the Bucs, Vraney coached players to 15 All-Midwest Conference honors and five 1,000 point scorers. His teams and players have written their name into the program record book more than 65 times.

Under Coach Vraney’s tutelage, a number of student-athletes wrote their names into the Midwest Conference record book including James Lazarcik in field goal percentage in a game, season and career, Andrew Walters and John Grotberg for steals in a game, and this season Andrew Walters joined the group making his way into the league record book with 277 rebounds.  

“His hard work and commitment to Beloit College has allowed him to build a successful program and make an enormous impact on the lives of his players,” said Athletic Director Tim Schmiechen. “For twelve years, Brian has been a first class coach and person and we all wish him the best.”

“The support from my family, the families of our players, the campus, the alums and the community has been great,” continued Vraney. “I am excited for the next chapter of my life and wish everyone the best. Thank you!”
