Head Basketball Dan Pruessner has announced that Nate Ware will return to the Eastern University bench as an assistant. Ware served as an assistant and head coach at Eastern in the 1980’s and 1990’s was inducted to Eastern’s Hall of Honor in 2010.
The legendary coach returned to the Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony in 2014 to be inducted with the 1987-’88 team that won 30 games and reached the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City, Mo. He won over 230 games and recruited and coached many of the best players to play at Eastern. With all his wins and championships at Eastern and other places, Ware still considers the growth and development of his players and their success after graduation as his greatest accomplishment as a coach.
Ware has a tremendous reputation in the Philadelphia Area. He coached in the Sonny Hill League in the 70’s and 80’s, and he is a founding member of the Philadelphia Area Small College Basketball Coaches Association. He is in that organization’s Hall of Fame.
After leaving Eastern, Ware continued his coaching career in the area. He has coached at Valley Forge Military College, University of the Sciences, and Wilmington University (Del.)
Pruessner expects Ware to provide support in practice and game planning, scouting, alumni relations, and recruiting.
“To have Nate Ware sit next to me on the bench is an absolute honor;” Pruessner said of the hire. “It will be a privilege to be able to tap in to his wealth of knowledge on a daily basis. We are blessed to have Nate return to Eastern University and add to his already storied legacy. Nate has a strong connection to the Philadelphia area and our alumni base. I cannot express how lucky we are to have him as a part of our staff. ”
