Cory Baldwin, athletic director and head men’s basketball coach at Waycross College, has named his coaching staff for the 2012-2013 basketball season.
Tyler Page, one of Baldwin’s assistants since 2010, has been promoted to head assistant coach. Page received an associate’s degree from Waycross College, a bachelor’s degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University, and a master’s degree from Troy University. He has been the head basketball coach at Southside Christian Academy and Brantley County Middle School. He has also been an assistant coach for Brantley County High School.
Justin Newton joins the staff as an assistant coach. A graduate of Liberty University, Newton is a former head coach at Victory Christian School in North Augusta, S.C., where he also played for his father during his high school career. Following high school, Newton played for two seasons at Tennessee Temple University.
Xavier Wyatt has joined the Swamp Foxes as a student assistant. Wyatt was a member of the basketball, football, and track teams at Locust Grove High School before a knee injury ended his high school career. Despite the setback, Wyatt served as team manager for all three teams. Locust Grove’s head football coach, Clint Satterfield, is a member of Baldwin’s extended family and recommended Wyatt for the position.
Newton and Wyatt fill the positions formerly held by Ty Anderson and DJ Hardy, respectively. Anderson initially joined Lee University’s basketball program as its head assistant coach before becoming a member of the Peace Corps. He is currently stationed in Cambodia. Hardy graduated from WC in 2012 and is now the student assistant for Albany State University basketball.
