University of West Florida head men’s basketball coach Tanner Smith has announced the addition of Joshua Reeves to the Argonauts’ staff as Director of Basketball Operations on Wednesday.
In his role, Reeves will assist with the day-to-day operations of the UWF men’s basketball program, including on the floor coaching, team travel, scheduling, practice preparation, recruiting logistics and other administrative responsibilities.
“Coach Reeves is a relentless worker,” said Coach Smith. “He gives his time, energy, and passion to players and any program he has been a part of. We are delighted to welcome him to the Argo family.”
Reeves joins the Argonauts after spending the past two seasons at Ferrum College, where he served as an assistant coach and head developmental coach. He joined the Panthers’ staff in July 2024 after previously playing two seasons at Ferrum from 2020-22.
Before returning to his alma mater, Reeves spent two seasons as an assistant boys basketball coach at George Wythe High School in Wytheville, Virginia. During his first season on the bench, he helped lead the Maroons to a 26-4 overall record and a runner-up finish in the 2023 Virginia High School League Class 1 State Championship Tournament. George Wythe finished the following season with a 20-8 record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2024 VHSL Class 1 State Tournament.
Reeves also worked as a basketball instructor for Point Guard College camps during the summer of 2023. In that position, he helped instruct more than 150 athletes during each camp session.
Reeves earned his Bachelor of Science in Health and Fitness Management from Ferrum in December 2022, along with a minor in athletic coaching.
